This is my husband Tony holding one of our old cats "Weasel".Tony was diagnosed with a rare dementia called FTD in 2008. Our life together was shattered because of the effects of this disease but one night as I was praying for a financial breakthrough I looked up at one of my hand made mosaics and a metaphor became apparent to me.
Shattered dreams is our story but it doesn't end there. My shattered dreams have become shards of hope by making mosaics out of shattered china and other materials. Tony recently passed away at home on January 14th 2013.Needless to say I am devastated.I have lost the one true love of my life. Now,in order for me to survive financially I am going to keep Shattered Dreams Mosaic Art alive. With the purchase of one of my 8 inch one of a kind mosaic plates you will recieve a gift card explaining how this idea came about. You may choose a plate already available for sale or you can send me a personal item to add to a custom made plate. Maybe you'd like to add a piece of your mothers favorite tea cup,I can put anything you'd like into my designs from pieces of jewelry to car keys,just use your imagination to make the plate truly yours. Each plate is signed and numbered and I can also write a personal message on the back of the plate if you like. These make wonderful gifts. My plates are also made of recycled materials so you can feel good about that.Twenty percent of my profits from these works of art will go to help families of frontal lobe dementia cope with their own shattered dreams through respite care. I hope you will join me in my journey through this horrible disease and become a partner in hope for support of victims and their families. This is a disease of the young,it is not Alzheimers. People as young as thirty have been struck down in the prime of life by FTD. They are raising families. many have had to go into nursing homes. This is a heartache that no one deserves. What We Do
II'm Val Pierce and I create one of a kind mosaic art. I offer everything from eight inch round plates to platters ,trays ,birdhouses and more. Each piece is signed and numbered making it collectable. You can make your order very personal by sending me bits and pieces of yours (or someone you loves )personal affects to be incorporated in the mosaic. I can add anything such as pieces of your favorite coffee mug,dog tags,house keys,jewelry whatever you'd like me to add to make your one of a kind piece memorable. You can also choose a theme such as cats or dogs and let me do the rest.I can write a memorial or other text such as a poem on the back of the item ,use your imagination and I will take it from there.
